Its like eating char kuay teow,
a whole solid plate
with lard and all, generous serving of egg and lup chiong.
All flavors of life in one simple unpretencious dish; unlike those done one dish where you can’t tell what is real food what is decor, you can feel the taste bursting forth with every mouthful.
All flavors of life – happiness, sorrow, love, longing, desire…
and using hokkein is like the cockles. Makes the dish complete.
Maybe I was hungry, but kudos to Royston Tan for serving up such a wonderful dish, appeals to everyone, yet exquisitely prepared.
